Bose SoundDock

The biggest hitter in our roundup is the Bose SoundDock. Right off the bat, this thing bumps. In terms of bass and sheer aural punch, the SoundDock was the most impressive unit we tested, filling the room with its single speaker. Of course, it doesn't come cheap; $400 is a lot of coin for a system meant to be used outside the protected confines of your living room. However, it's a very well constructed unit, and feels like it can take its share of knocks. The rotating dock disappears for easier transit, and the molded handle makes it easy to carry. That being said, however, it's still a rather bulky, heavy unit. The rechargeable lithium-ion battery provides more power and longer playing time than most other rechargeable batteries. It's a good option if you've got the cash, and a car/large bag/horse and carriage with which to carry it.

Desk Phone Dock promises to bring some landline charm to the iPhone

There's not much more than renders and / or polished photos to see at the moment, but this so-called Desk Phone Dock is slated to make its debut at the China Sourcing Fair next month, and it shouldn't have much trouble turning some heads among all the usual iPhone accessories. Complete details (including pricing and availability) will apparently have to wait until then, but the dock does promise to charge and sync your iPhone while it's in place, and it will function as a speakerphone as well if you don't feel like using the handset -- or simply as speaker for your iPhone, for that matter (that's a volume knob / mute button on top). Unfortunately, we won't be at the fair to check it out first hand, but we'll certainly be keeping a close watch on this one.

Kenwood AS-iP70 converges picture frame, alarm clock, FM radio and iPhone dock into one

We know, you've seen enough iDevice docks to make your eyes bleed with frustration, but if your bedside table is growing a bit cluttered with all the appendages and chargers you have lying around, you might wanna check this one out. Kenwood's 7-inch AS-iP70 can serve as a picture viewer, a music player, an alarm clock, or an FM radio, while also packing USB and SD card inputs for alternative media sources. All in all, it looks quite slick and has plenty of buttons to play around with, but be warned that its 800 x 480 resolution is intended for pictures only, there's no video playback to be had. If that and the ¥25,000 sticker (about $270, launching in Japan this April) have you running scared, you might want to check out Sony's cheaper, AVI-playing alternative right over here.
